DATC Entrepreneurial Institute

Basic Business Series

Targeting current or aspiring entrepreneurs, this Series offers basic training that assists in operation a small business. It also provides opportunities to improve skills pertaining t small business and entrepreneurship. Following are examples of topics covered:

  • Payroll Administration - QuickBooks
  • Accounts Receivable and Payable - QuickBooks
  • Using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in your business.
  • Business Law for the small business person.
  • Understanding Financial Statements.

Pro Management Series

This series is for entrepreneurs that have existing businesses with established revenues. They plan to grow their businesses through improving current profitability and addressing new opportunities. Options for courses in the Series include:

SBDC

FastTrac®, NewVenture™, GrowthVenture™, and BizSmart are 10 week courses to assist the start-up and the existing young businesses to evaluate through each step the business planning process and changes needed to improve performance and grow their business.

Continuing Education Classes

Businesses and employees can take advantage of a number of affordable classes offered through the College’s Continuing Education Department. Computer, leadership management training, and a multitude of business related subjects are offered.

Customized training can be developed to meet your company’s specific training needs. Make an appointment to discuss the training options available.

State Custom Fit Training

Is your company new, expanding, or needing upgrade training to stay competitive? Eligible companies may receive up to 40% assistance on training cost for their full-time employees.

DATC College of Business

The School of Business Technology at the DATC offers a wide range of classes relating to business and office occupations.

Business Administrative Support

These classes prepare students with the fundamental and advanced skills necessary to work in a business office setting. Students will become proficient in communications, bookkeeping and accounting, records management, personal and interpersonal skills.

Computer Applications

In today's work place, virtually every occupation requires basic computer skills and working knowledge of specialized software programs. These classes provide beginning and advanced level skills training in the most commonly used business software applications and additional training in certain specialized software applications.

Bookkeeping and Accounting

These classes provide the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a variety of accounting and bookkeeping positions with a focus on utilizing the QuickBooks accounting software package.

Small Business Management

Utah has one of the most active entrepreneurial business communities in the county. Working in conjunction with the new Davis Business Alliance, this program provides the business skills necessary to start and manage a small business, including basic computer operations, marketing, and accounting skills. The Alliance also provides access to a variety of industry resources to enhance the program. Students learn how to write effective business correspondence and develop complete, concise, and effective business plans.

e-Business

This program is intended to meet the growing need for individuals who understand how to do business using the Internet. Students will learn the basics of setting up and operating an e-business. particular emphasis is placed on the principles and practices of marketing using the Internet. Students will also be exposed to the legal and ethical aspects of conducting business online.
